SEQUENTIAL BIBLE CURRICULUM

With other believers and the help of the Holy Spirit, begin to build a new life based on the plans outlined in God's words to us, in the Bible.

After completing the Gospel studies, the next subjects to look at are as follows:

FOUNDATIONS: Hebrews 6:1-2, the Sermon on the Mount, basic teachings: the Lord's prayer, forgiveness, the Lord's supper, the origin of sin, temptation, the putting aside of selfish desires, giving - serving - honouring others, the guideline principle of giving a tenth to God, man being created for good works, the kingdom of God, the spiritual world, man and God being in three parts, what is grace, the Ten Commandments, love fulfilling all good laws, the return of Jesus, and the end of this world...

MINISTRY GIFTS: Learning about them, learning to practise them, working with them to overcome difficulties and problems in one another, finding and doing the special work God has for each person.

From Creation to the Flood

A Family & Sunday School Learning Resource (Genesis 1–6)

Audience: Families, Sunday schools, home educators
Age range: All ages (questions scale naturally)
Format: One extended session or 5–7 shorter lessons

This resource is designed to be:

Children can respond with observations or drawings; adults and older students can engage theological depth.

1. CREATION (Genesis 1–2)

Focus: Order, goodness, purpose

Discussion Questions
• What does the description “very good” suggest about God’s intentions?
• What might it mean to be made in God’s image?
• How do you imagine relationships looked before sin entered the world?
• What responsibilities do humans appear to have in creation?

For younger children:
What is your favourite thing God made?


2. THE FALL (Genesis 3)

Focus: Choice, trust, consequence

Discussion Questions
• What do you think the serpent is offering?
• Why might the fruit have seemed desirable?
• What changes do you notice after Adam and Eve eat?
• What kinds of “death” seem to begin here?
• How does this story help explain the world we live in now?


3. CAIN & ABEL (Genesis 4)

Focus: Sin spreads outward

Discussion Questions
• What differences do you notice between Cain and Abel?
• What seems to be happening in Cain’s heart?
• Why do you think God speaks to Cain before he acts?
• What does the image of sin “crouching at the door” suggest?
• How does this story build on what happened in the Garden?


4. ENOCH (Genesis 5:21–24)

Focus: Faithfulness within decline

Discussion Questions
• What stands out about Enoch in this chapter?
• What might “walking with God” look like in daily life?
• Why do you think Enoch’s story is included here?
• How does his life contrast with the repeated phrase “and he died”?


5. GENERATIONS FROM ADAM TO NOAH (Genesis 5)

The Flood occurs in year 1656 (Genesis 7:6).

• What surprises you about the lifespans?
• What might the repeated phrase “and he died” be emphasizing?
• What does it mean that Adam overlaps with later generations?
• How does knowing Methuselah dies the year of the Flood affect how you read the story?
• What does Lamech’s death shortly before the Flood suggest?


6. THE WORLD BEFORE THE FLOOD (Genesis 6:5–8)

Focus: Corruption and grace

Discussion Questions
• How would you describe humanity by this point?
• What does it mean that God is described as grieved?
• Why do you think judgment comes at this stage?
• What is the significance of the phrase: “But Noah found favor with the LORD”?
• What does faithful living look like in a corrupt world?


VISUAL ACTIVITY (OPTIONAL)

Create a long horizontal timeline and mark:
• Creation
• Enoch taken
• Death of Lamech
• Death of Methuselah
• The Flood

Reflective Questions
• How does seeing overlapping lives change your understanding of this period?
• How close does the Flood feel when you see it visually?
